Figures of Speech II (105 - 127)

1. Anaphora
  • "Utque dedit notae lacrimas, dedit oscula vesti."
  • Translates: He gave tears and gave kisses to the familiar veil.
2. Synechdoce
  • "Quoque erat accintus, demisit in ilia ferrum."
  • Uses iron, to represent the sword
  • Sword is made of iron (part of a whole)

3. Apostrophe

  • "O quicumque sub hac habitatis rupe leones!"
  • Talking to lions...who aren't really there
