Catullus 109

In Poem 109, Catullus gives evidence that Lesbia has actually spoken to him...in person...in reality...for real. Supposedly she has promised Catullus that they will be in love forever and their relationship will be everlasting. Personally, I think this is very unexpected because it was only a few poems ago that she was trash talking Catullus to her HUSBAND, and a few poems before that in which Lesbia had no clue who Catullus even was.

I find this spontaneous relationship very immature and naive. It seems that neither Catullus nor Lesbia realize or care that their affair could hurt other people. Perhaps they care too much about the present moment and the feelings they are having, that they can't see the dangers of their doings.
